Loner (film)

Loner Hangul RRWetoli aka Orphaned or Hikikomori is a 2008 South Korean film. The debut feature by director Park Jaesik, Loner is a horror film about hikikomori, the phenomenon of reclusive individuals who have chosen to withdraw from social life.

Soona slowly becomes a hikikomori, as identified by her uncles fiance, Choi Yoonmi Chae Minseo, a psychology student. This is compounded when Sejins old flame, Han Songi Lee Yeonsoo meets with Sejin, only to be followed and beaten by Soonas grandmother as the latter angrily refuses to allow her to meet with Soona. During a dinner, Soona, in a trance, recounts a story to Yoonmi that implies that Sejin is actually her father, with Songi her mother, and that the two were involved in a teacherstudent romance until Sejin abandoned her, with Songi afterward marrying a man who abuses her everyday. Yoonmi is furious when Sejin avoids her questions and states that she will not talk with him unless he brings the topic again.Soonas condition becomes even worse, with vermin starting to appear on her body. When the housemaid enters Soonas room while she is out, she is knocked out and fitted inside a barrel with the corpse of the Jeongs pet dog. Soonas grandmother attempts to reach Soonas room by a ladder but Soona kicks it, breaking her grandmothers back. That night, her grandmother heads to Soonas room but is stopped by Soona and a figure behind her, the latter of whom makes Soonas grandmother falls off of the stairs to her death. ........
